Infrastructure is the backbone for all of American cities today that hope to attract a range of industry and business, from manufacturing and technology to retail and restaurants. Farmersville is ready with up-to-date water, wastewater, natural gas, and electric utilities and is laying the groundwork to provide the necessary resources for the future of business, such as high-speed fiber. Â
The Need for Speed
Never has the need for quick and reliable internet connection been as great as it is today. Companies large and small have need for instant access for everything from reliable inventory data controls to point of sale systems. Seeing the need for that level of service, the City of Farmersville has partnered with Thrive Broadband in a unique public-private arrangement that will see the city become one of the first in North Texas with an ultra-fast geo redundant fiber optic network.
“
We may be the first city in North Texas to provide speeds this fast. Having a world-class fiber infrastructure advocated by visionary leadership is extremely important to the development of a quality of life for our residents, schools and businesses that is second to none.
Ben White, Farmersville City Manager
What does this mean for business? How about ultra-reliable upload and download speeds of 2 gig providing lightning-fast internet capability across the board. The city is providing the lines for service, while Thrive will use those lines to power the fiber optic system.Â
Powering Business
City of Farmersville Utilities provides commercial, industry, and residential power for our city and the surrounding rural areas of Collin County. In addition, to support our growing community, the City of Farmersville is planning to build an additional electric substation in the industrial area along Highway 380 East.Â
