Farmersville EDC is dedicated to supporting our business community and attracting new business and industries and increasing our workforce to promote smart and competitive economic growth for our community.
Our close-knit community offers a special quality of life that stems from our early rural heritage and still offers everything that the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex has to offer, from major league sports and entertainment to leading-edge healthcare, all within an hour’s drive.
It is well known that the stars shine bright in Texas, but one of our biggest stars worked and lived in Farmersville prior to joining the U.S. Army, becoming one of the most decorated soldiers of WWII, and who went on to star on the silver screen in Hollywood, Audie Murphy.
Farmersville is also steeped in the history that made Texas the great state it is today. Settled in 1849 and incorporated in 1873, Farmersville went on to become a highly popular trading center and major railroad shipping point for cattle and the variety of produce raised by the area’s farmers. By the early 1920s, our community had become one of the most affluent cities in the state and at one time was referred to as the “Onion Capital of Texas.”
Today, Farmersville remains as committed as ever to attracting large and small businesses to become part of our thriving business community just as we have in our past.
Farmersville has the room to grow while still remaining true to itself and offers a future filled with potential for those who are ready to make their dreams a reality.
